SOLDIER UNDER SUSPENDED SENTENCE

A sentence of 14 days' detention was the penalty imposed by a district courtmartial on Private Arthur Devlin. BuVnham Camp, who last Monday was charged with desertion. The officer commanding the district, Brigadier Mead, the convening officer, has ordered suspension of the sentence, but it will be reviewed within three months.
Devlin was charged with desertion in that he absented himself without leave from 10 p.m. on the night of the embarkation of troops for overseas and remained absent till he returned to camp six days later.
