Yorkshire, of Instructor-Lieutenant George Lawrence Hogben, R.N., only son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hogben, of Remuera, Auckland, and Miss Margaret Elaine Carter, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Carter, of West Ardsley, near Wakefield, Yorkshire. The Rev. Claude Stephenson officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an afternoon dress of deep turquoise crese trimmed With Italian quilting, and burgundy accessories. Miss Frances Clark, of Weston-super-Mare, was the only attendant, and Mr. Kit Aldred, of Beesthbrpe Hall, Caunton, Nottinghamshire,. was best man. SCHOLASTIC HONOURS. The bridegroom was a 1938 New Zealand Rhodes Scholar He had completed one year at New College, Oxford, when war broke out and he was selected for a commission in the Royal Navy.
