PARTIES FOR DEBUTANTES

Debutantes at the Marsden School dance last night were entertained beforehand at a number of dinner and cocktail parties. Among those who entertained were Mrs. G. H. Scott, who gave a dinner party at the Midland Hotel for 43 of the friends of her debutante daughter, Miss Irene Scott, and five other debs., Misses Jean Ikin, Alison Allen, Elizabeth Gray Young, Margot Low (Nelson), and Hilary Keeling.

Mrs. Rocke O'Shea also entertained at the Midland Hotel for her daughter, Miss Helen O'Shea, and another Marsden debutante, Miss Patricia Luke. Two other "unofficial" debutantes were present. Misses Margot Finn and Joan Cunningham. Miss Finn, who' is a daughter of Lieut-Colonel and Mrs. Finn, is an old girl of Woodford House, and with Miss Cunningham, whose home is in Auckland, decided to "come out" at the dance at which their friend was to make her official bow.

Mrs. E. H. Mclnnes gave a buffet dinner party at her home in Karori in honour of her daughter, Miss Barbara Mclnnes, and her debutapte friends, Misses Berenice Burgess and Mary Ballinger. Mrs. W. Robertson, Mrs. D. Adams, and Mrs. Robert Wilson combined to give a cocktail party for their daughters, Misses Diana Robertson, Patricia Adams, and Diana Wilson, and Mrs. R. G. Macmorran, Mrs. A. M. Holmes, Mrs. G. H. J. Underwood, and Dr. Myers dined together at the Waterloo with their debutante daughters, Misses Alison Mactmorran, June Holmes. Joy Underwood, and Annette Myers, and friends.

A private dinner party at her home was given by Mrs. N. A. Wilton for Miss Nora Wade, New Plymouth, whom she later presented at the dance.
