HUNDREDS OF MEN APPLY
OTTAWA, December 5. The announcement of the formal acceptance of the Empire air training scheme is expected towards the weekend. The "New York Times" says that American airmen are likely to participate. Hundreds of applications have been received, many being offers of service as instructors. It is announced that Europeandescended residents in Canada who are not citizens will be acceptable, but they must take the oath of allegiance. Some experienced United States pilots will balk at this, but they will be used as unenlisted instructors .at flying clubs for the preliminary training of recruits, i ; ______ ■
