HARD-OF-HEARING LEAGUE
The Wellington branch of the New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing has recently acquired a new grouphearing aid. which may be carried to various places of entertainment, lectures, plays, concerts, etc. This apparatus is a welcome addition to the equipment already in its possession and of so much value to hard-of-hearing people. Twelve earphones are attached to the set at present, and it is possible to connect, a further twelve. The new apparatus, which is similar in principle to the stationary group-hearing aid at the league rooms, was tried put for the first time at a pianoforte recital given recently by the students of Mrs. Ethel Maekay in aid of the league funds in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, and results were so successful that those hard-of-hearing members who were privileged to use the earphones expressed wholehearted delight at being able to listen so effortlessly to every note of the excellent items on the programme.
Over 20,000 bales of wool will be submitted by brokers in Wanganui on Thursday, when the first district offering is to be appraised for sale to the Imperial Government.
