FARMER'S DEATH
FALL OVER HIGH CLIFF

TAIHAPE, This Day.
The body of Charles Harry Travis, aged 53, farmer,. L Mangaweka, near Taihape, was found by a search party on Monday night at the1 foot of a high cliff overlooking the Rarigitikei River. He had been missing since 9.30 a.m. on.Monday. When the body was recovered by means of a rope and wool pack it was found that the man's neck had been broken and a leg fraptured in two places. On the edge of the cliff in the locality where the body was found is a pig sty situated on the deceased's property; Constable Devine, Mangaweka, stated at the inquest that Mr. Travis might have fallen over the cliff, which is 200 feet high, while looking for an animal. Doris Joyce Adella Travis, wife of the deceased, staited that her husband had been in poor, health for some time and had been worrying a lot about his I farm.
In returning a verdict that death was due to a broken neck and other severe injuries, the Coroner, Mr. E. Loader, said that there was no evidence to show what caused Mr. Travis to fall over the cliff. .
