ATHLETICS
Among the important events to be conducted at the annual WellingtonWanganui Athletic Clubs' gathering to be held at the Hataitai Recreation Ground next Saturday afternoon will be the secondary and primary schools' contest for the Blundell Cups. There are some especially fine athletes in the secondary schools this year, and the competitions for the trophies should be particularly interesting. Representing the Wanganui and the Wellington clubs will be several notable performers, among them men with national reputations. These will include E. Phillips, great all-rounder, and New Zealand high jump champion, J. Morgan, holder of the national discusthrowing title, and N. McCarthy, heel and toe champion. In addition, there | will be quite a host of provincial titleholders in action.
