RELIGIOUS SERVICES. CfIRISIAD ELP H 1 A N LECTURE ON BIBLE TRUTH. (God WiJliug.J L0.0.1T LiALL. ALLEN STRJ&IS'J (Opp. Paramount. Courtenay Place). . SUNDAY, at 7 p.m. SUBJECT: "ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS" KESWICK'S MOTTO EXAMINED IN THE LIGHT OF NEW TESTAMENT* TEACHING. Are professing "Christians" "all one in Christ Jesus'' whether they be "Anglican, Baptist, Ohuvch. of Christ, Cougregationalisf, Methodist, Presbyterian, Salvation Army, and Brethren" (vide Keswick'e advt. Oct. 21)? NEW TESTAMENT TEACHING IS:— (1) "As many of you as have been baptised into Christ have put on Christ. ' There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free., there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And it' ye be Christ's then are ye Abraham's . seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Gals. 3:27-29). From which it follows that those only who have been "BAPTISED INTO CHRIST" are "all one in Chriet Jesus." (2) No person 'can be "baptised into Christ* without first believing the Gospel, for Jesus said, "HE THAT BELIEVETH THE GOSPEL AND IS BAPTISED SHALL BE SAVED." (Mark 16:15-16, see also 1 Gor. 1:21, Roms. 1:16, 1 Oor. 15:1-2, 2 Tim. 1:10). (3; The Gospel which must be believed previous to baptism is defined as "THE THINGS CONCERNING THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST." (Acts 8:12, . Acts 28:31). These "things" concerning "the Kingdom" and "'Name" are revealed in the Holy Scriptures, tlieiiforc the Apostle Paul said, "THE HOLY SCRIPTURES ARE ABLE TO-MAKE WISE UNTO SALVATION" (2 Tim. 3:1.5) and consequently Jesus said, "SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES. J (John .5:39. Matt. 22:29, Acts 17:11-12). (4) The baptism that must follow v belief of "the Gospel" is a b.dily immersion in water in order that the believer may be "BURIED WLTfI CHRIST" and rise to "walk in newness of life." (Roms. G:3-6, Cols. 2:12 Matt. 3:16, Acts S-.36-39, Acts ■2:41. Acts 8:12, Acts IQ, Acts 16:14-15, Acts 18:8). ; (5) From which it follows that only baptised believers of the Gospel of Chriet .are "all one in Christ Jesus." All others are still unjustified sinners— "IN ADAM"—without any hope of that eternal life which God is offering on His own conditions. (Gals. 3:27, 2 Cor. 5:17, John 14:6, John 10:9, Acte 4:12, Hebs. 7:25, 1 John 1:7, 1 Cor. 15:22, Roms. 5:12, Eph. 2:11-13, Eph. 4:17-18). "STRATI IS THE GATE, AND NARROW IS THE WAY, .WHICH LEADETH UNTO LIFE. AND FEW THERE BE THAT FIND IT." (JesusMatt. 7:14). Questions invited. No collection. "The things concerning the Kingdom of God and Name of Jesus Christ' are extensively demonstrated in' the book "Christendom Astray." A ex>py will be sent free on application to. JOHN AMBULANCE HALL, 29 Vivian Street. GOOD ADVICE. TifARTIX LUTHER tells how the ■*■*■*-devil once came to him with , a list of sins he had committed. Alas, only too well he .knew that the black record was true. He said to the devil: "Is that all?" Once again he appeared with a larger record. "Is that ail?" ho'inquired again. "Yes," said the devil, "that is I all." "Then," replied Luther, "write in red ink across them, 'The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth from ALL sin.' " i (1 John 1-7.) The great reformer passed | to his eternal reward in the year 1546. Just before he passed away he made this statement: "1 pray you leave my name alone, and do not call yourselves Lutherans, but Christians. Who is Luther? My doctrine is not mine, I have not been crucified for anyone. (Paul, 1 Cor. 3:5-6.) Would not that any should cull themselves of Paul, nor of1 Peter, but of Chi^st. How, then, docs it befit me, who am but miserable dust and ashes, to give my name to the children of Christ? Cease, my dear friends, to cling to these party names and distinctions—away with them all! Let us call ourselves Christians, after Him from whom our doctrine comes." "Called Christians first in Antioch." (Acts 11-25.) Would that Christendom ' had heeded, that good advice. Wo would like to add that there arc five names the Lord gives His people: Believers*, disciples, j saints, brethren, and Christians. Anxious souls please write F. J. CroKs, 44 Rakau Road, E2.
