BAKER—GODFREY.

A military guard of honour paraded outside All Saints' Church, Kilbirnie, last Saturday,'for the wedding of Joan Constance, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Godfrey; Kilbirnie, and Sergeant Dunnill Charles Baker > (Ist Battalion, 22nd anti-aircraft battery),eldest son of-Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Baker, Eastbourne. The ceremony was performed by, the Rev. W. Larigton, the organist being Mr. Smith. The church had been decorated with irises for the occasion.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of. cream satin gloss" taffeta cut very simply. The circular skirt formed a very full, long train which fell from the waist, and the bodice featured a square neckline and short puffed sleeves. Her lovely veil of cream cut tulle fell from a topknot of lily-of-the-valley to form a second train.- Her bouquet was of lily-of-the-valley and cream rhododendrons

The bridesmaids, Misses Shirley God frey (the bride's sister), Joan Davison. and Joyce Chudley, were frocked alike in lavender French taffeta. Their gowns. featured full circular skirts piped in four bands of, self material from waist to hem, and off-the-shoulder necklines which were caught in front with antique picture brooches. They wore bows of their, frock material in, their hair and carried posies of flowers to match.

The best man was Sergeant lan Nicol of the same battery as the bridegroom. ;

During the signing of the register, Mrs. W. H. Stirrat sang "My Prayer." The guard of honour comprised men of the bridegroom's anti-aircraft battery, which is stationed on Mount Victoria, and the bride and bridegroom walked from the church under an arch of canes.

The reception was held in a private lounge at. the Empire Hotel, where Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Baker, received relatives and j intimate friends. The bride's mother was wearing a model gown of henna velvet and accessories in bx*own, andi carried a posy in golden-brown shades. Mrs. Baker was in bottle green silk velvet with a hat to tone, her pdsy being in wine shades. When Sergeant and/Mrs. D. C.Balcer

left later the bride was wearing a smart black ensemble with 'a black straw toque trimmed with a moire bow veiling. Her accessories were of black suede.
