ABUSED INSPECTOR

"He is one of these smart fellows—• he tried to show off to the other men present by abusing the inspector," said Sub-Inspector D. J. O'Neill in the Magistrate's Court today, referring to Edward Ernest Aitken, a labourer, aged 23, who was charged with using obscene language. Traffic Inspector Revell gave evidence in which he said that Aitken, one of a party of about fifteen men gathered in Courtenay Place, had used the offensive language to him when he approached the group. The Magistrate, Mr. J. L. Stout,'. S.M., sentenced Aitken to seven days' imprisonment with hard labour.
