WOMEN'S GOLF
PROVINCIAL TOURNEY
QUALIFYING ROUNDS
Though low scoring was not the rule, the golf played in the qualifying rounds of the Women's Provincial Tournament, at Heretaunga, yesterday was remarkably good when the rainy, blustery morning, and the ; cold, gusty gale that spoilt a sunny*afternoon, are considered. The lowest gross score of the day was Returned by Miss P. Helean (Hastings), who in the second round did a 79 (563635474—43; 445533354 —36). Miss J, Duncan (Wanganui)
produced the best card in the first round, an 80 (41-39). Miss Duncan had a long hunt for her ball at the seventeenth in the second round, and it .seemed to affect her play, as she topped several shots in succession at the last hole, which cost her 8.
