EASY GOING LIKELY
RAIL SERVICE TIME-TABLE
Heavy rain early in the week settled the chance of fast going for the opening day of the Wellington Racing Club's Spring Meeting tomorrow, but there is still every prospect that the track will be in capital order even if a bit on the easy side. Prior to the rain the course had been regularly watered with the club's automatic sprinklers, which prevented it from becoming unduly hard. A reminder is given that the club is providing free admission to soldiers in uniform.
The usual convenient transport facilities will operate, and cars will
use the same gates as in the past, Camp Road being opened for the meeting by the courtesy of the Defence Department. Race trains for the course leave Wellington tomorrow at frequent intervals from 10.30 a.m. till 11.25 a.m., with ordinary trains at 8.45, 9.55, 10.8 a.m., and 12.16 p.m. Similar services are scheduled for the later days, with extra specials on Labour Day. A special train leaves Masterton for Trentham at 7.23 a.m. each day. The city offices of the W.R.C. will be closed on all three race days.
