SINKING OF DOLPHIN

INQUIRY BOARD REPORT

PUBLICATION DEFERRED

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

CHRISTCHURCH, October 17.

If issued at all, the report by the Board of Inquiry into the sinking of the Dolphin by the Battery Point coastal defence gun will not be released until the inquest on Mr. Frederick James Brasell is held.

"The report is purely.a Departmental one, as we have to get the facts as soon as we, possibly can," said the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) in a telephone interview. The Minister said he had not yet received the report, the publication—if at all —of any details of which would be deferred until the inquest was finished. 'So far, no information had been received as to when the inquest would be resumed.

The report of the Board of Inquiry was handed during the weekend to Colonel P. H. BeJ.l, Officer Commanding the Southern Military District. It was studied by him, and will be forwarded to the Army authorities in Wellington.
