MR. C. J. HART
The death occurred in the Wellington Hospital recently \of Mr. C. J. Hart, of Aucklana and formerly of Wellington, a well-known civil pilot. The late Mr. Hart held "A" and "B" licences and was one of the first pilots trained at Rongotai under Squad-ron-Leader G. L. Stedman. Mr. Hart piloted a plane that took part in the search for the late Mr. Armstrong, a Hawke's Bay pilot, who was lost in the Ruahine Ranges. At the time of his death, which followed the second of two serious operation's, Mr. Hart was employed as a sales representative, in Auckland. He had continued an active interest in flying almost up to the time of his arrival in Wellington four weeks ago to enter hospital. Mr. Hart's father, Mr. W. J. Hart, of 32 Derwent Street, Island Bay, has m his possession an interesting recent family photograph showing four generations of the Hart family—Mr. John Hart, of Carterton, who is 88 years of age, his son, Mr. W. J. Hart, of Wellington, the late Mr. C. J. Hart, and the latter's ten-year-old son, Kenneth.
The funeral was held at Karori and floral tributes included a number from aviation organisations and other bodies with which the late Mr. Hart was connected.
