A COMPULSORY CONFERENCE
(Received October 17, noon.)
SYDNEY, This Day,
A compulsory conference has been convened by Judge E. A. Drake Brockman, of the Federal Arbitration Court, to discuss the threatened strike by the engine drivers in the mining industry over dissatisfaction with certain clauses of the Court's recent award.
The conference is to be held at Newcastle on Thursday, and until the conference is held it is considered certain that the men will not give effect to their plans to go on strike.
