The congregation of the Gospel Hall, Bay Street, was again granted permission to hold Gospel services on the beach for adults and children, either on Sundays of weekdays. ' The Petone Citizens'. Band was granted the use of part of the foreshore between the wharf .and the rowing club pavilion for a carnival from December 26 to .January '2. < * < Mr. C. L. Jackson, the Borough Engineer, reported that the formation work on the esplanade was nearing completion,. the sea-wall and steps at the memorial having been built and the plots kerbed, formed, and blinded ready for tarring ■. when, the; weather was favourable. -The large grass plots had been re-sowed' and the' grass on the small plots was well established. Work on the Buick Street reserve was almost completed. The work on the grandstand roof was "now in hand, the interior work having been almost completed.
