JOHNSONVILLE TOWN BOARD
A deputation from the Johnsonville Baseball Association waited on the Johnsonville Town Board at its ing last night, to inquire whether it was possible to allot a ground for the use of baseball players this season. Commissioner F. C. Jacobs, of the works committee, replying to the deputation, said that the problem of providing enough grounds to cater for all sports was extremely acute in the Wellington district. There were only two playing fields available in Johnsonville and both these were used for cricket. However, another area now in course of formation would be in service next year, meanwhile co-operation between the Baseball and Cricket Associations might result in a compromise satisfactory to both. . A communication was received from the Minister of Itnernal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, regarding the setting up of various committees under the Emergency Precautions Act, Commissioner R. Grant recommended, that a committee be appointed to consider co-operation with neighbouring local bodies. . A 'etter was received from the Centennial Exhibition 'executive inviting the chairman of the board, Mr. H. D. Morgan, and his wife, to act for one weeK as official host and hostess at the Exhibition. Acceptance was left to the chairman's discretion.
