NINETY-TWO YEARS OF AGE
MRS. L. E. DUCKWORTH

How many are there alive in the Dominion' today who can claim that they were christened by the famous New' Zealand pioneer bishop, Bishop Selwyn? This honour, however, fell to Mrs. L. E. Duckworth, of Levin, who celebrated her ninety-second birthday today. Mrs. Duckworth (nee Lucinda Eyes) was born in Marlborough in 1847, her father being a pioneer settler. Opportunity was taken to tender her a birthday tea, by the members of St. Mary's Ladies' Guild, to which body she had been treasurer until last year, ever since her arrival in Levin 27 years ago.
* Mrs. Duckworth still carries on her duties as local secretary 'of,the Church of England Missionary Board and the Church Chronicle. She is also president of the local branch-of the British and Foreign Bible Society. Her husband died while on a visit to England just prior to the Great War, ' 1914-18. Except tor slight deafness Mrs Duckworth retains her faculties in the highest degree, and may often be seen shopping in Levin.
