ESPERANTO

The weekly meeting of the Miramar Esperanto Society was held last night in the clubroom, St. Aidan's Hall. Miramar Avenue. Mr. Bertram Potts, who presided, stated that the world certainly needed Esperanto today, as was shown by the difficulties encountered in the field of radio alone. The various countries were broadcasting in several languages, endeavouring to reach the peoples of foreign lands. Were Esperanto taught in 'he schools the language barrier would be broken in one year so far as children were concerned, and "in a generation people would be bi-lingual. Classes were formed and a study of Esperanto continued. Extracts from "Heroldo de Esperanto" were read describing the success of the recent annual international congress, when representatives of over forty countries used Esperanto only during the deliberations of the congress. After supper general Esperanto conversation followed. It was announced that the society would meet next Monday, notwithstanding the public holiday.
