PLAY IN ENGLAND
Three bowlers well known in New , Zealand, Messrs. Keith I. Cross, C. P. r Gross, and M. Orchard, took part in " big games in England in August. In the Brighton open singles toup» • nament, Orchard (Blackheath) reach- -~ ed the third round and lost to A. A. Keech (Bootham), the eventual win* .1 ner. Both had qualified to play in '-: . the -national singles championship later in the month. ■ • ■ ,* In the national rink championship.^-, L; G. Walton, J. G. Hogan, C. P. ,;■ Cross, Keith I.' Cross (skip), Cosham : -- Club, reached the third round and^-.-went out to Worcester by 25r26. In the national pairs championship. ~- Machon and Orchard (Blackheatih). 2^?. beat Park Institute by 27-16. Black- -fir heath took the lead by 17-14 with the - :.-j only 5 in the- game. After 2 more to.. their opponents, Blackheath put onfive 2's in succession. They lost by ;- -15-25 to Wellingborough in the third -.- round. J. Mitchell and L. Snowball- ;~" (Durham City) were the eventual •£ winners. ~~ The national singles result has not yet reached New Zealand.
