At his office at Government Buildings this morning, his Excellency the Governor-General received the following representatives of the Boy Scouts' Association:. —Mr. Hector Christie (Honorary Dominion Chief Commissioner), Sir James Grose (chairman of the finance committee), Mr. Lan T. Cook (honorary Dominion secretary). '
Lieut.-Colonel E. S. Varnham," M.C., who has been appointed to an important position, in the force being raised in New Zealand for service at home or abroad, is a well-known resident of New Plymouth, where he is manager of the "Taranaki Herald." Prior to the Great War Colonel Vamham was a resident of Palnaerston North for- a brief period. He had lengthy service overseas and since his return has been actively -identified with the Territorials.
Mr. C. H. Holmes, manager in Melbourne for the- Australian National Travel Assodation, will arrive in Wellington early next week to supervise !the completion of the Australian Pavilion, at the Exhibition.
Dr. C. R. Burns, Auckland, is visiting Wellington and is staying with hi? father, Dr. A. D. Burns, Allenby Terrace.
The New Zealand superintendent for Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., has received cable advice that Major-General Sir John Davidson, K.C.M.G, has been appointed deputy chairman of the board of directors of the company. "-
The Rev. R. Blair, of Otaki, has been appointed to take charge of th« Presbyterian Church at. Fitzroy, New Plymouth.
The Rev. N.C. Hall, Presbyterian minister at Kaikohe for the past three years, has'been appointed to. the charge of Lauded Central OtagOi :J
