THE EXHIBITION
POSTPONEMENT URGED
MINISTER DOES NOT AGREE
Confirmation of the Government's decision to carry on with the Centennial Exhibition, despite'the outbreak of war, was given by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. ■
In reply to a suggestion by Mr. C. A. Wilkinson (Independent, Egmont) that the holding of the Exhibition would be out of place and an unwarranted expense, the Minister said that notwithstanding the serious responsibilities that had been thrust upon New Zealand, the country should fuce up to them with determination. The people should follow their ordinary occupations as rationally as possible and in that fashion exemplify their determination to do their job.
The fifth of the new radio towers for the Government wireless station ZLW on the top of Tinakori Hill was erected yesterday afternoon by Messrs. William Cable and Co., the time taken for the hoist being three minutes. One more tower remains to be hoisted.
