KUKU CONFISCATION
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —During the debate in the House yesterday when the proposed confiscation of the Kuku farms was mentioned, one Government member interjected: "Cuckoo in the nest." This humorous remark was greeted with much laughter from the Government benches. It may have appeared funny, but how many of them have made homes for themselves out of rough, unbroken country? I am not aware if the interjector is a student of Nature or not, but unconsciously he most aptly described his party's, position. The Kuku settlers have made their own nests and the Labour cuckoos from outside seek to oust them. As it happens, however, the Kuku builders know they are strong enough and' have sufficient friends in the Dominion to withstand all cuckoo invaders.—l am, etc., v
