Blackwater Mines, Reefton.—Return June: Crushed, 4050 tons, yielding 2385 fine ounces of gold, from all sources, including clean-up from Ball mill and old battery, the value of which, taking gold at £7 8s a fine ounce, was £17,651. Working expenses were £8425, and working profit £9226. Capital expenditure was £694, and development expenditure £845. MOUNT MORGAN. The following is the production report of Mount Morgan, Ltd., for the six weeks ended June 28: —Ore mined, 108,141 tons; ore treated —sulphide 60,400.t0n5, oxide 45,760 tons; sulphide mill tailings retreated through oxide mi11,'45,720 tons; estimated production, 91660z of gold, 338 tons of copper, including 16 tons from precipitation. During the period 341 tons of blister copper were produced from concentrates. ARGO. The Argo dredge return is 350.-;: for 128 hours and 11,000 yards. BUNDI. The Bundi dredge return to July 5 is 590z 18dwt for 84 hours and 11.880 yards. WORKSOP. Worksop Extended reports a return of 330z for 125 hours from 11,000 yards. BIG RIVER. Big River Gold Mines reports for the week ended July 6:—No. 5 level, north stope, south end: Work suspended; men off work. North stope, stone 2ft 6in; north level, advanced 6ft, total 12ft; boulders of quartz at intervals. No. 6 level: Advanced sft. total 12ft; winzes, sunk 3ft, total 47ft, stone sft wide. Sent to battery 45 tons of stone. GOLDEN SPUR. I Mining activity in the Maratoto district, Auckland, has been stimulated by discoveries of ore samples on areas prospected by the Golden Spur Goldmining Company. This company has now purchased tlie whole of the assets of Ohinemuri Gold and Silver Mines, Ltd., which formerly operated claims in the district. It is the intention of the Golden Spur Company to utilise the battery previously operated by Ohinemuri, and it is hoped that the crushing of ore on a fairly large scale will commence shortly. BROKEN HILL SOUTH. Production of Broken Hill South, Ltd., for the year ended June 30 shows an increase, though a slightly smaller quantity of ore was treated. Year ended June 30, 1938. 19.'!9.
