A SHORE POSITION
COMPANY'S SENIOR PURSER

AUCKLAND, This Day. The senior purser in the service of the Union Steam Ship Company, Mr. Frederick H. Ferguson, lately stationed on the Monowai, after 23 years at sea, has been appointed to a shore position in the company's Wellington office. He has been purser since 1916. Mr. Ferguson was purser of the Tahiti when that vessel sunk in the Pacific Ocean in 1930.
