(Special to the "Evening Post.") *
PALMERSTON N., This Day.
"In view of the fact that large quantities of fruit are wasted every season and that fruitgrowers are in need of ready markets for their produce, we ask the Government to take steps to have a scheme inaugurated for the issue of suitable ffUit to schools hot in the milk-in-schdols Scheme, particularly in the rural areas." This Was a remit passed at the quarterly meeting of the Manawatu and Oroua School Committees' Association. It was pointed out that in the country districts thefe was an abundance of milk, so that the need foi. the daily ration at school Was not so great as at the city schools, but there was a heed for fruit, inquiries made at the 'Ohakea School revealed that less than 2 per Cent, of the pupils took fruit to school with their lunches.
