TRANSPORT TO THE BAYS

The general manager of the Eastbourne transport services, Mr. C. L. Bishop, reporting to his council last evening, stated that the omnibus receipts for the month of October showed an increase over those for the corresponding month of last year, sufficient to cover the increased cost of running. The position in regard to the omnibus service was very satisfactory.

The summer time-tables for both services were at present receiving attention and would operate as from Sunday, December 11.

The ferry receipts again showed a falling off, and the amount was approximately £100 less than that for the corresponding month of last year. The total for the seven months of the financial year was approximately £200 lower than for the same, period of last year.

The expenditure for the period was approximately the same as for last year and the net result, therefore, somewhat worse than for last year. So far the weather had been rather unsettled. Labour Day was not a good day and the traffic suffered accordingly.
