GARDEN FAIR
(From "The Post's" Representative.)
There was an atmosphere of the easy friendliness, which seems a special characteristic of garden lovers, among the many visitors to the garden fair held yesterday afternoon in the beautiful setting of Mrs. A R. Gower's grounds in King's Crescent, Lower Hutt. The garden and the weather were ideal for the function, which was organised by the women's committee of the Horticultural Society and the Garden Circle, for the purpose of raising funds to improve the Horticultural Hall.
Mrs. Gower, who was wearing a tailored silk frock in soft delphinium blue with a wide-brimmed navy straw hat, was assisted by her daughter, Miss Ruth Gower, and by Miss Marjorie Barton.
Well-stocked stalls placed in the shade of native trees and giant eucalypti, gaily-coloured umbrellas, seats and comfortable swing lounges made vivid splashes of colour on the grass.
