BRILLIANT GALLOPING
Last Thursday, two days prior to his success in the Caulfield Eclipse Stakes, 1 mile and 3 furlongs, Manolive was responsible for a remarkable gallop at Epsom, breaking no less than three track records. He ran a mile and a quarter in 2min Bsec, which was 3Jsec faster than .Aitchengee's record. In running the last nine furlongs in lmin 54sec, he broke his own record by 2£sec. He ran the last mile in lmin 4Hsec, thus clipping a second off Textile's mile track record, which had stood since 1927. A year ago Manolive was almost a cripple, but the perseverance of his trainer, A. R. Jamieson, has been rewarded. In just over a fortnight Manolive has won £4150 in stakes and has broken two time records.
