BRITISH INTERESTS
SHIPPINQ ON YANGTZE

RUGBY, November 10.
Sir J. S. Wardlaw-Milne (Conservative) asked in the House of Commons whether the Prime Minister was aware of the great importance of maintaining British interests in shipping on the Yangtze River, and the necessity of the trade of the river being open to British tonnage.
The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. R. A. Butler, in a written reply, said: "Yes, and appropriate representations have been and will continue to be made to the Japanese Government."
In answer to another question, Mr. Butler said that the, importance whicil the British Government attached to the maintenance of the integrity of the Chinese Customs'had been made clear.
