SUPPORT FOR LEAGUE

NEW ZEALAND'S STAND

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE

The following letter has been received by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) from Lord Robert Cecil, president of the League of Nations Union:— "16 South Easton Place, London, SW.I, October 17, 1938. "Dear Prime Minister, — May I congratulate you on your triumph and through you the people of New Zealand on the excellence of their judgment. I want to say how very much in the past three years we have appreciated the splendid stand your Government has made,, particularly at Geneva, for the principles of the Covenant and the maintenance of justice and honourable dealings between nations. I am convinced that this policy is the one best calculated to strengthen the bonds of the British Commonwealth of Nations, and so to sustain it as a great force for peace in the world. With all good wishes, Yours very sincerely, CECIL."
