POPULAR BRIDE ELECT

The Hibernian Hall, Green Street, was recently the scene of a very happy party given by St. Mary's Ladies'

Branch of the Hibernian Society in honour of Miss Eileen Hogan, whose marriage to Mr, j. Sullivan will take place shortly, The bride-to-be is a very popular member of the society and epnseq.uentiy a large number of member? and friends, attended. Masses of Iceland poppies and birch were used in the decorations and a huge banner on which was painted the society's Coat of Arms was much admired.

The Rev. Father Gilhooly. (chaplain to St. Mary's branch) referred to Miss Hogan's zeal and enthusiasm in all matters pertaining to - ; the interests and prosperity of the society, and presented her, on behalf of St. Mary's, with a beautiful crystal fruit bowl. Miss. X, Crewdson (president) also spoke of the admii'able work of the guest of honour, and Miss M. Cotter, past president, gave her a big surprise in presenting her with a picture as a token of appreciation for her excellent work in. obtaining new members.

Musical items were contributed by Misses Monica Bell and Esme Crowe and Mr. R. Lavin. An enjoyable time was spent in games and dancing, and after a delicious savoury supper, prepared by Mesdames Lane and Carnegie, a great number of parcels containing a varied and delightful collection of gifts, were opened. Mr. Sullivan thanked those present on behalf of his fiancee.
