CONCERT AT BORSTAL
JUSTICES ENTERTAIN
The. girls at Point Halswell last evening enjoyed the annual entertainment provided by the Justices of the Peace Association, About twenty-four visitors motored from the city and were received and welcomed by the superintendent, Miss Sewell, Mr. H. W. Shortt replying and addressing a few words to the girls. The recreation room in which the concert was held was bright with many flowers.
The performers who so kindly' gave their services were members of the Wellington Operatic Society, The orchestra under the leadership of Mr. Jack Woodward gave several muchappreciated items and also led in a hearty community singing session. The M,C. was Mr. J. Cooke, who kept quick succession of solos, violin solos, quartet, sketches, etc., those taking part being Mrs. A. Haley (accompanist), Misses J. Stirling and R. Griffon, and Messrs P. Alexander. A. Haley, N. Smith, Denton, and Mumme. One of the girls thanked all the visitors for their kindness in providing so varied an entertainment. Supper and the singing of (he National Anthem concluded a happy evening.
