UNITED INSURANCE YEAR.
A further increase occurred in the business of United Insurance Co., Ltd., Sydney, during the year to September 30 last, gross premium income increasing from £560,725 to £597,479, and net premium income increasing from £360,521 to £385,782. Fire, marine, and accident losses amounted to £217,975, equal to 56.5 per cent, of net premium income, against £211,899 in the previous year, whilst costs of management, including, taxation, increased from £132,352 to £142,764, equal to 37.01 per cent, of net premium income. The underwriting surplus was £25,043, equal to 6.49 per cent, of net premiums.
