MINISTER'S DENIAL
"Someone appears to have been drawing on his imagination," said the Ministel- of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) today, when asked to comment on the above message. "The New Plymouth airport is the property of the New Plymouth Borough Council, and is certainly a very fine ground. There is no intention, however, of using it as a military aerodrome, nor has such an idea been considered. It is true that steps are in progress for the acquisition of a suitable area of land at Ohakea—between Palmerston North and Wanganui—for a defence airport."
