MILK SALES CLIMB

FAR LARGER CONSUMPTION

JUNE IN SIX YEARS

Reports made by the milk committee to the City Council have recorded, month after month, a steady increase in the sales of milk and cream from the municipal milk depot. During the depression years milk sales fell rather badly, for even though milk may be an essential food family rations were severely reduced, but the sales are well up to the best of former levels again. The committee reported to the council last evening that June sales had averaged 6167 gallons daily, which was 304 gallons higher than for June of last year, a little over 5 per cent., and that cream sales were higher by over 22 per.cent. A comparison was also given of June daily sales over a number of years, as follows:— Milk Cream (gals.), (gals.). 1932 48S8 382 1933 4860 389 1934 4994 518 1935 5297 611 1936 5863 742 1937 6167 906 The figures tor June, 1937, do not include milk supplied, to schools, to which 335.520 bottles," or 20,070 gallons, of milk were supplied during the month.
