At the monthly meeting or the Wei* lington Crippled Children Society Mr; Gordon J. Reid presided. Mr. A.- U Hum was welcomed back, after an acH sence of six months in Australia. The report of the Welfare Officer! disclosed that 77 outside visits had} been made and 98 visits received at the office during the month. Fifteen.; new cases had been registered, makr ing the total 173. The-cases committee reported having considered 60 cases, in each case appropriate action having been taken.

The honorary secretary (Mr. Jack Meltzer) reported that the V.U.C. Stu-, dents' Association had been asked'to! devote the proceeds of a yearly collection to the society and a favourable answer received. The attention of the Public Trustee and all solicitors had been drawn to the question of testators providing in wills for bequests to the society. Correspondence disclosed an encouraging increase in donations.

Information was received of the benefits being derived by education, in the. homes of crjpples, and that aspect of the work was to be closely watched.

A special report was presented by Messrs. Gordon J. Reid, E. W. Hunt, and J. Meltzer in connection with the Public Hospital and the installation of a pool. The sub-committee advised that a Hubbard Tank was to be installed immediately, and a permanent pool provided as soon as the building scheme was settled and a permanent place found. The sub-committee made further general recommendations on existing orthopaedic facilities for childi ren at public hospitals, and the mat< ter was left in the hands.of Mr. Hunt for further action.

The executive is also considering the auestion of payment of fees by hospital boards in contiguous districts. There is a feeling that this matte* should be. investigated fully, so as ta ensure that the interests of any patients are not prejudiced. The executive of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society is to be asked to take up this matter.
