The northern shallow depression had by this morning passed off East Cape, but another and equally shallow one is now crossing the South Island. An intense anti-cyclone is, however, approaching the Dominion from the Tasman Sea During yesterday, except in the southern half of the South Island, where light northerlies prevailed, winds were mostly southerly and strong at places about and north of Cook Strait and by this morning southerlies were prevailing almost generally. The weather was fair yesterday over most of the South Island, but cloudy to overcast conditions have ruled in the north with occasional showers in most parts. Since last night it lias become more generally unsettled, and light, scattered rains have occurred in the South Island also. Temperatures have been cold and snow has fallen on some of the high country in the South Island. TODAY'S WEATHER.
