MOTOR IMPORTS
FIVE MONTHS' RETURNS
The position occupied by the motor vehicle in the imports of the Dominion for the first five months of this year compared with that for the corresponding period of 1936 is disclosed by the Government Statistician in his abstract of imports. Motor vehicles include commercial vehicles, and lubricants are of mineral origin, but not necessarily all used in vehicles. Motor vehicles as an item head the list of imports for the period in value, the next being electrical machinery and equipment at £3,030.124, followed by apparel and ready-made clothing at £907,325 and woollen piece goods £555.777.
