(By Telegraph.)
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
BLENHEIM, This Day.
. Although the .1937 fruit export, season in Marlborough will not close until, about May 14, it .is already evident that growers are enjoying, a decidedly better season, as nearly ' 30,000 more cases of fruit will be shipped away than the total exported last year. Several varieties have still to come to hand, the principal ones being Stunners, Doughertys, and Rokewoods.
Last year the total export from Marlborough was ,48,726 cases, of which 47,157. were apples and 1569 pears. Up to., the' present-this season's export is. approximately .70,000 cases! and. there are'still 6000 to 7000 cases to be: shipped. , The increase is attributed to favourable climatic conditions, which have been ideal for fruit production/ and also to the increased size and better quality of the fruit. •
