(By "Ribbonwood.") . The Wellington Trotting Club's New Zealand Cup Trial JMeeting was held today, in showery ..weather and before a large attendance. Royal Romance went out to a dozen lengths' lead after six furlongs in-the Petone Handicap, but she was tiring with three 'furlongs: to go and- com-; pounded" at-; the home turn-to" give Parrish Chimes a length and a hall victory. Franz Derby went a solid race for third, but was eight lengths away. Survivor 12 (J. Bryce, jun.), 8-9 Prince were next. He was followed early by Bill 8., Guy Zolock, and Radiant Prince; who began brilliantly. Billß. lost his' position before the home turn where Lord Axworthy was attended by Radiant; Prince, Savoldi, and Pukeuri. Savoldi challenged; but Lord Axworthy hung on to beat him by a. length, with Radiant Prince four lengths away, and Pukeuri fourth. Bill B. was next. Scott-won the October Handicap decisively.- Beginning slowly.but safely,' he was fifth to Compass', Ace Pot, Glorietta, and Navy Blue when the field settled down, and waited until three and a half furlongs from home before making his run.. He soon ran to the front, and . drawing clear of Parisienne crossing the top, he beat her to ;the'post by a length.- Navy Blue was finishing well'a neck -behind Parisienne and'Llewellyn's'Pet was fourth. Times: 3min 24 3-ssec, 3min 25 l-ssec, and 3min 25seq. ' ' .
