A good story is told in "The' Motpir" in the following series of letters, with one newspaper extract included:—
El Katool, Egypt, June '30, 1936. Dear George,—l arrived here last night after a splendid voyage. It. feels pretty hot after my so-called summer in England; I didn't succeed in selling my car before I left. I tried half a dozen dealers and-the best offer-1 got was a fiver. Rather than let it go at that I drove it with, my luggage to Liverpool, and as:l had only;just time to
go on board I left the car in the street. Allah alone knows what will happen to it.—Yours ever, Charles.
Extract from daily paper, June 30, 1936.—At the Liverpool Police Court today Mr. Chas. Smith, of London,,was fined 10s for leaving his car, unattended in the street. It was stated; by; the police that defendant had only just succeeded in catching a,boat for, Egypt and had abandoned the car at Pier Head. .
Pier Head Garage, Liverpool, June 30, 1936.—Mr. C. Smith, El Katool, Egypt. Dear Sir, —On the 19th instant your motor-car FY36471 was brought to us by the police, who had found it unattended in the street. We are garaging the car at your expense and await your instructions—Yours faithfully, W. Jones; Manager.
Pier Head Garage, Liverpool, July 25, 1936.—Mr. C. Smith, El Katool, Egypt. Dear Sir, —We have as yet received no reply to our letter- of June 30.
