LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
"KNOW YOUR BOY"
Mrs. Millward presided over a large attendance of members and friends at the October meeting of the Petone branch of the League of Mothers.
A very pleasant little incident was the honouring of Mrs. Piper's eightysixth birthday (the oldest member ot the branch) by the presentation of a bouquet conveying the congratulations and good wishes of the Petone branch. Much pleasure was given .. by Mrs. Schmidt's solos, and Mrs.' Lowe gave much pleasure with her recitations.
1 .After the serving of afternoon tea, Mr. Brasted (speaker for/the- afternoon) gave a most enlightening address on "Know Your Boy." • Mr. Brasted, as national secretary of the Y.M.G.A., had a most' useful fund of knowledge to draw upon, and illustrated1 many points by the relating of humorous incidents in his acquaintance with boys. Dealing chiefly with the adolescent age, from 14 onwards, Mr. Brastec1 divided his talk into four sections and gave many new aspects from the physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual point of view, always stressing the point that a good boy was the product.of a good home.-
At the conclusion of his, talk, Mr. Brasted was warmly1 thanked, and the singing- Of "God Save the King" brought a most helpful afternoon to a close. :
