LOVELOCK TO APPEAR
EXHIBITION NEXT SATURDAY
An opportunity for Wellingtonians to see J. E. Lovelock, New Zealand's most famous athlete, in action will be provided : next Saturday at the Basin Reserve, when he will give an exhibition at a sports gathering to be conducted by the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre. Lovelock, who has made ithree world records and capped an amazing career by winning the 1500 metres at the Berlin Olympic Games last August, is one of the greatest stylists the sport of athletics has ever produced. His performance in Germany was described as a thing of sheer beauty, and his appearance at the Basin Reserve should provide sporting enthusiasts of this city with one of the most outstanding attractions offered by athletics. Not only is Lovelock a marvellous runner, but he is a sportsman par excellence. He has as' big a reputation in this field as he has for pure performance, and there is certain to be a very large attendance to give the great New Zealander the welcome he deserves.
