ALEXANDRIA, March 19.
The Coroner at the inquiry into the loss of the Imperial Airways' liner City of Khartoum in the Mediterranean stated that it was impossible to establish with certainty the cause of the disaster. While it was clear that there was no petrol when the engines failed, he rejected the theory that the alteration to the main jet of the carburettoi was the main cause of the accident The shortage of fuel* was due either tc an airlock in the petrol gauges or t< exhaustion of the supply.
The Coroner added as a rider tha1 alterations in the petrol supply shoulc be brought to the notice of Imperial Airways pilots and flight-engineers. The Court recommended the company to tighten-up ,the system of inter communication between the flare path and the slipway and to provide a sea going tug for rescue and salvage work also that aircraft be supplied with sig nals for emergency landings.
