COMMISSION FOR THE EAST
{British Official Wireless.)
RUGBY, March 18,
In a House of Commons answer the Colonial Secretary (Mr. J. H. Thomas) announced the appointment of a commission consisting of Sir Wilfred Woods, late Financial Secretary in Ceylon, Miss Edith Picton-Turbervill, the social worker, and Mr. C. A. Willis, late of the Sudan Civil Service, to visit Hong Kong and Malaya to investigate the Mvi Tsai problem and make recommendations.
Mvi Tsai is a form of slavery disguised under the name of "adoption" of children. It was rife in Hong Kong several years ago, and the Anti-Slavery Society laboured for its abolition.
