LAW STUDENTS SOCIETY
OPENING MOOT
There was a good attendance of law students when the Wellington Law Students Society held their first moot for the year recently.
The action, which was heard before Mr. G. G. G. Watson, M.A., LL.B., was one in which Rufus. (by his guardian ad litem) sued A for damages for injuries allegedly arising out of the negligence of A..
Mr. D. A. Wilson, LL.B., with him Mr. A. G. Horsley, appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. B. Sinclair-Loclchart, LL.B., with him Mr. P. N. Verschaffelt, for the defence.
The court held that A had been negligent, but that Rufus was a trespasser and therefore not entitled to damages. Judgment was (accordingly entered for the defendant.
Mr., Watson, after congratulating all; counsel on.the able manner in which they had handled the case, concluded ther meeting with some very valuable advice to the students on court practice in general.
