SCHOOLS AT RICCARTON
Although it was an off morning for the flat racers, several horses who will shortly be contesting jumping events were schooled at Riccarton on Wednesday. Among them were Royal Limond and Hounslow. Streamline (H. Turner) went over six hurdles with Lycidas (F. J. Smith). The pace was sound all the way and both horses jumped well. The Shambles gelding Wrexford Bridge, ridden by H. Turner, jumped four hurdles at a fair pace, giving a creditable display.
Eight steeplechase fences were jumped by Royal Limond (D. O'Connor) and Nocturnus (A. S. Ellis). They kept together all the way, going at a sound pace, both clearing the obstacles in fine style. Royal Limond looks an improved horse, and Nocturnus is a highly promising novice for crosscountry racing. Hounslow (H. Turner) went over the two brush hurdles alone as a preliminary. Bun Tuck (A. S. Ellis) then jumped the brush fench and the sod wall along the back, after which Hounslow joined him over the brush at the top of the straight and the stand double. Hounslow. shaped well, but Bun Tuck will require some educating, though he got round safely.
