THE MAYOR'S REQUEST
The following message to the citizens of Wellington was issued by the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) this afternoon: —
, "By reason of the death of his Majesty the King, the Mayor requests business premises to close as early as possible, today, and to observe tomorrow more as a Sunday than an ordinary holiday.
"The functions arranged by the City Council for the entertainment of the ship's company of H.M.S. Wellington tonight and on Thursday night have been cancelled."
