Sir Reginald was twenty-seventh Chief of Clan Macleod, and was created K.C.B. in 1905. He was chairman of the Anglo-Egyptian Oil Co., Ltd., and deputy chairman of the Anglo^Ameri-; can Debenture Corporation. He was Queen's and Lord Treasurer's Remembrancer from 1889 till 1900, RegistrarGeneral for England and/Wales from 1900 to 1902, and Under-Secretary for Scotland from 1902 to 1908.
